ABOUT
Hannah Parker is a paediatric speech pathologist with a passion for supporting children with a range of speech, language, feeding and communication difficulties.
Hannah graduated from Charles Sturt University and currently works from Bendigo, Victoria. Prior to working at ‘The Play Project – Speech Pathology’, Hannah worked in public primary schools (including specialist schools) and in the early intervention sector.
Hannah has a depth of knowledge in the areas of early and preschool language development, social communication and speech sounds (articulation/phonology). She is also passionate about complex communication and disability.
Hannah is committed to keeping up with new advancements in the field. She is an active participant in Speech Pathology Australia’s professional self-regulation program and is a Certified Practising Speech Pathologist. Hannah is also a Hanen Certified Speech Pathologist and is trained to deliver a number of internationally recognised Hanen parent programs.
THERAPY
At ‘The Play Project – Speech Pathology’ we provide services for speech, language, literacy and communication disorders in children. We offer quality assessments, therapy, training and resources to children, their families/carers and teaching staff.
Intervention is available for a wide range of speech pathology needs including:
- Language delays/disorders
- Early learning difficulties

- Augmentative/Alternative Communication (AAC) systems

Hanen Programs for Parents
Hanen Programs provide parents with practical, hands-on experience to develop children’s communication and social interaction skills.
The Hanen Programs recognise:
- the importance of involving parents in their child’s early language intervention
- the need to help families as early as possible in a child’s life
Our Hanen accredited clinician is trained to run the following programs:
It Takes Two to Talk
This program is designed for parents of children (birth to 5) who have language delays. It provides parents with practical techniques designed to improve communication skills.
Parents learn a broad range of skills including:
- how to engage their child in back and forth interactions
- how to adjust everyday activities to provide opportunities for language learning
- how to follow their child’s lead to build confidence and encourage communication
More Than Words
This family-focused program was developed for parents of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder or other social communication difficulties. Parents learn practical ways to help their child communicate and interact during everyday routines and activities.
Parents learn a broad range of skills including:
- how to motivate their child to communicate
- strategies to develop play and social skills in their child
- tips to help their child’s understanding
TalkAbility
This Hanen Program has been designed for parents of verbal children with Autism Spectrum Disorder or other social communication difficulties. The TalkAbility program is aimed at verbal children aged 3-7 years and teaches parents how to help their child learn social communication skills.
The program is designed to help:
- children who find it difficult to hold a conversation with others
- children who have difficulty playing with children their own age/making friends
- children who have difficulty understanding other points of view

Hanen Parent Programs
The Hanen program involves both group and individual sessions:
- Initial consultation for you and your child with a Hanen Certified Speech Pathologist
- 6-8 x 2.5 hr group learning sessions (your child does not attend)
- 3 x individual sessions (with you and your child) in which you will be filmed and receive feedback
