The Play Projects is an NDIS Registered Provider of Specialist Behaviour Support services.
What does that mean?
We have a team of highly skilled Positive Behaviour Support Practitioners who assist participants and their support teams to create individualised strategies for people with a disability that are responsive to the person’s needs, in a way that reduces and eliminates the need for the use of restrictive practices.
Positive Behaviour Support focuses on evidence-based strategies and person-centred supports that address the needs of the person with a disability and the underlying causes of behaviours of concern, while safeguarding the dignity and quality of life of people with a disability who require specialist behaviour support.
How does it work?
Individuals, Parents, or Support Coordinators can refer a participant to The Play Projects for services.
Upon receiving a referral, The Play Projects Client Services Team will check that you have Improved Relationships funding allocated in your NDIS Plan (this is a requirement for accessing Specialist Behaviour Support under the NDIS guidelines). Our Team will then work with you to arrange a suitable time for a planning meeting.
During the planning meeting our Senior Clinician will work to understand your individual circumstances and how best to support you to achieve outcomes for you/your participant. This initial appointment is generally completed over the phone and takes approximately 1-1.5 hours.
You will then be allocated to a Specialist Behaviour Support Practitioner who will work with you and your support team to complete the following tasks:
-
- Interim Support and Safety Plan
- Functional Behaviour Assessment
- Training and Education for your family and support team as required
- Comprehensive Positive Behaviour Support Plan
This may include regular care team meetings to ensure that everyone working with the participant has shared goals and consistent strategies to help the participant achieve their potential.
